We have been closely following the Fairview Fire the past 24 hours. This afternoon the wind picked up, pushing the fire in multiple directions and leading to additional road closures. Thankfully, Pine Springs Ranch is still not in the evacuation area; however, winds are expected to increase tomorrow with a chance of lightning. The air quality around PSR has also been affected and the possibility of power outages have been announced. For these reasons, as well as the continual unpredictability of the fire, we have no choice but to cancel our Leadership Convention.
We are disappointed to make this decision. We were excited to gather with over 200 youth ministry leaders from across SECC and have a special weekend together. Even so, nothing is more important than our safety, and we know the opportunity to gather and retreat together will come again soon. We will let you know of any rescheduled plans for the SECC Youth Leadership Convention, and begin the process of refunding paid registration fees.
We ask you to join us in praying for the affected residents, the first responders, and our Pine Springs Ranch camp and staff. You can also help by donating items to the American Red Cross.
